Economic reports due this week

November 20, 2000

* Tuesday, the Commerce Department is scheduled to issue trade statistics for September.

Analysts expect that the U.S. trade deficit probably widened as oil prices rose and export growth stalled. In August, the shortfall of $29.4 billion was the smallest in six months as a surge in exports reduced the impact of record imports.

* Tuesday, the Treasury Department reports on federal government spending and receipts for October. A budget deficit of $26.7 billion was logged in October 1999.

* Wednesday, the Labor Department will issue its weekly jobless claims.
