Riordan Names Long Beach Official to Treasurer's Post

November 21, 2000

LOS ANGELES — Long Beach City Treasurer Joya C. De Foor was appointed treasurer for the city of Los Angeles on Monday by Mayor Richard Riordan.

The appointment, subject to City Council approval, would be effective Jan. 2. If confirmed, De Foor would head the office of the treasurer under the Office of Finance, created under the new City Charter.

The city treasurer oversees the cash management and investment of all city funds-- a portfolio that amounts to more than $3.2 billion. The salary range for the position is $103,836 to $155,723.

Former Treasurer J. Paul Brownridge left the position last December. The job has been filled on an interim basis by Jerry Capodieci.
