November 21, 2000|VIVIAN LETRAN

At an awards ceremony Sunday, the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts honored 14 businesses that support the arts, among them: Gateway Inc., the Boeing Co., Edison International and Wells Fargo.

The organization also annually recognizes an arts group for its innovative partnerships with local businesses.

The recipient of the 2000 Arts Award is the Pacific Symphony, which received a $2,500 cash grant underwritten by Ernst and Young LLP and an etched Tiffany crystal plaque.

The award program is part of a 19-year tradition by Costa Mesa-based OCBCA, a nonprofit organization with more than 125 members. OCBCA is an affiliate of the National Business Committee for the Arts in New York.

Recipients were chosen by five judges from the business and arts communities.

Past arts award winners include South Coast Repertory, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, the Laguna Art Museum and St. Joseph Ballet.

The Pacific Symphony previously received the award in 1990.
