Work on Replacing Gas Line to Continue

November 22, 2000|STEPHANIE STASSEL

Work on a $3-million natural gas pipeline replacement project on Haskell Avenue will continue for about 10 more work days, Southern California Gas Co. representatives said Tuesday.

A three-mile section of old pipeline was closed Tuesday at the Sepulveda Dam basin and Haskell Avenue, just north of Ventura Boulevard. Excess natural gas was vented at the basin at 5:15 a.m., spokeswoman Cathy Macguire said.

Tuesday afternoon, a new pipeline was connected to the gas company's natural gas delivery system. Repaving of Haskell will begin today, with related work to take about 10 work days.

Macguire said the utility wasn't having problems with the old pipeline, but that it was simply time for an upgrade.
