Santa Paula Coach Ed Gomez and his staff will be studying a lot of film of Division XI quarterfinal opponent Orange Lutheran, a perennial playoff participant.

That's because the Lancers feature several formations and will pass, run or run the option.

"They have a lot of talent," Gomez said. "They are very athletic and have good team speed. They have a real athletic quarterback and use him very well within the offense."

Santa Paula (9-1-1) played six teams in the regular season that qualified for the playoffs before beating Bishop Diego, 33-7, in the first round on Friday.

Xavier Ramirez, who has rushed for 908 yards and 14 touchdowns, rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns Friday.

The Cardinals yielded 148 yards, only 44 in the first half.
