Lynwood Man Gets 25 Years to Life for Murdering Boy

November 23, 2000

COMPTON — A Lynwood man will serve 25 years to life in prison for murdering a 13-year-old boy who won money from him in a game of dice.

William Dexter Tagger Jr., 24, was sentenced Wednesday in Compton Superior Court by Judge Jack Morgan for the 1998 slaying of Kenneth Kashwan Elliott.

"The evidence did show that the motivation was for money," said Michael Enomoto, deputy district attorney. "The victim had won an unknown amount of money from the defendant the day before during a dice game and evidence showed he wanted to get his money back."

Tagger strangled Kenneth and dumped his body in a trash bin at an apartment complex in Lynwood, Enomoto said.
