* Enrichment Through Employment, which provides job training and work assistance to people recovering from mental illness, needs volunteers to teach computer skills to clients. Information: Volunteer Center, South Bay-Harbor-Long Beach, (310) 212-5009.

* American Tortoise Rescue, which provides rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and protection services for turtles and tortoises in Southern California, needs volunteers to pick up and deliver turtles and tortoises and to write grants, Information: (800) 938-3553.

* Women Helping Children, a nonprofit, nonsectarian community service of the National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles, needs volunteers for literacy and enrichment activities and for elementary public school library programs. Training is provided. Information: Carol Henault, (323) 651-2930.

* Polio Survivors Plus, a newly formed support group in Laguna Niguel, for polio survivors, their friends and family, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month (this month's meeting will be held the fifth Wednesday due to Thanksgiving).
