A Postgame Communion for the Fighting Irish

Win or lose in their game today against the USC Trojans, the Notre Dame football team, along with coaches and administrators, will attend a communion breakfast at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Anaheim Marriott.

Father Edward "Monk" Malloy, the university's president, will preside at the liturgy, and a Fighting Irish luminary will be seated at each table.

Before the breakfast, Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger will speak on "Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve Your Dreams." Ruettiger was a bench-warmer on the Irish football team in the mid-1970s whose positive attitude inspired the movie "Rudy." His talk begins at 8 a.m.

Worship Services

St. Angela Merici Catholic Church will offer a "Jesus Heals" Mass at 7:15 p.m. Monday. The event will be led by Father Charles R. Lueras, associate pastor of St. Francis Assisi Parish in Los Angeles. The Rev. Tom Cramer will lead worship services at 5 p.m. today and at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Geneva Presbyterian Church of Laguna Hills. "Time With Children" and children's catechism and worship training will take place during the 10:30 a.m. service. The Rev. Alan Landes will give the message "Is It Really the World of God?" at 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity United Presbyterian Church. Bible classes will be offered, as well as care for children to age 5. Beginning Dec. 7, the church will offer the support group "Special Moms, Special Kids" from 9 to 11 a.m. The group, which will run on alternate Thursdays, is designed for parents of children with special needs. Performances and Holiday Events

Musicians Bren Chambers and Marilyn van Versen will join the Rev. Karen Stoyanoff and members of the congregation in a "Service of Thanksgiving" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church. South Shores Church will offer its Outreach Worship Night featuring Chariya Bissonett's Up to You Ministries in concert from 7 to 8:30. Calvary Church of Santa Ana will present its fourth annual Night Before Christmas musical, "Two From Galilee," at 7 p.m. Friday. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present a creche exhibit and Christmas music program from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. The event will feature nearly 30 musical groups and soloists and more than 700 nativity scenes from around the world.
