October 01, 2000|CATHERINE BLAKE

A woman was critically injured Saturday morning in a fire at a four-unit condominium complex in the 2000 block on Avenida Refugio, authorities said.

The 42-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to Simi Valley Hospital with burns, fire officials said.

Two other residents were treated at the scene, one for cuts and another for smoke inhalation, officials said.

One firefighter suffered minor burns on his right hand.

Sandi Wells, information officer for the Ventura County Fire Department, said the blaze destroyed the condominium, valued at $150,000, and caused $15,000 damage to the contents. It also caused $50,000 in damage to adjacent condominiums.

The fire started at 9 a.m. and was put out within 20 minutes. There were 26 firefighters working on the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
