Wife Witnesses Fatal Shooting of Husband

October 03, 2000

LONG BEACH — A 25-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his wife Sunday night outside their apartment complex, police said.

Robert Soria of Long Beach died at a local hospital of numerous gunshot wounds to his upper body, police said. The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. in the 2800 block of Locust Avenue.

Soria had been talking to his wife, who was sitting in her car, police said. As Soria walked toward a security gate in front of his apartment complex, he was approached by three men.

One or more of the men shot Soria numerous times before running from the scene in different directions, police said. Soria staggered to his wife's car and she drove him to the hospital. He died about a half-hour later.
