Garden Grove

October 03, 2000|Tami Min, (714) 520-2509

The Garden Grove Unified School District tonight will consider applying for $23 million to continue funding for programs supported by the state and federal governments. The funding would also go toward programs to help the educationally disadvantaged, class reduction, anti-drug education and 10th-grade counseling.

Other business before the school board includes approving an agreement for about $170,000 in tobacco tax revenue from the county's Children and Families Commission. The grant money would help fund the two-year School Readiness Program, in which the district would collaborate with the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove to help children prepare for school before they start kindergarten.

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the boardroom at 10331 Stanford Ave.
