October 04, 2000|JOSH KARP

Simi Valley residents interested in helping to shape the city's arts scene now have their chance.

The city is looking for a resident to serve on its cultural arts commission, which oversees the operation and programming of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.

The arts commission has seven members: two City Council members, one arts center foundation representative and four public members. Members must be at least 18 years old and city residents.

Applications to fill the vacancy are due to the city by 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

Two council members will interview all applicants and make a recommendation to the entire council for appointment. Applicants' terms will end June 30, 2002.

Application forms are available at the city's Community Services Department at its Development Services Building, 3855-A Alamo St. For more information, call Debbie Solomon, deputy director of citizen services, at 583-6758.
