* Family--Performances to Grow On series will present the Khac Chi Ensemble Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the performing space of the Church of Religious Science, 101 S. Laurel St., Ventura. The troupe uses rare and unique musical instruments and plays the music of the mountain people of Vietnam. The evening will include a special shadow puppet theater show from Thailand, presented by Magical Moonshine Theatre. General: advance $12, at the door $15. * Family--Conejo Valley Children's Concert Series will continue Oct. 20 with the Jim Gamble Marionettes staging of "Hansel and Gretel" at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Show times: 11 a.m. ($5.50) and 6:30 p.m. (advance $9; at the door $10.50). 493-438.

* Norteno--Los Amigos del Valle & Friends will perform Oct. 22 at Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard. The group will perform its norteno music for an installment of the "Sunday Afternoon Jazz at the Carnegie" series.
