Girls Get Their Chance to Become Starzz

The Super Starzz AAU girls' basketball team is holding tryouts for fifth-, sixth- and seventh-graders.

* The Conejo Recreation and Park District is conducting a Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation basketball officials' certification course.

The course sessions will be 6-8 p.m. Nov. 14, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 28, 6-9 p.m. Nov. 29 and a preseason on-court session to be determined. Instruction will be at Goebel Senior Adult Center in Thousand Oaks.

Cost is $9 for an officiating kit, which includes a rule book, a mechanics manual, practice tests and a final exam. Pencil and paper are required.
