Cypress

October 16, 2000|Tina Borgatta, (714) 966-5982

The City Council has renewed its contract with the county to provide animal control and shelter services but has asked staff to research other alternatives. The cost for county services rose 52%, from $81,737 in 1999-2000 to $124,622 for 2000-01.

"We can only absorb so many increases, and we will end up funding new facilities in Tustin that are even farther away from Cypress," said Councilman Tim Keenan, referring to a county animal-control facility planned for the Tustin air base. "It's only reasonable that we consider other options."
