Friends of the Santa Monica Public Library needs volunteers to help with planning for, and on the day of, its first Children's Book Festival on Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information: (310) 458-8606.

* Christmas in April, Pasadena needs volunteers to help repair the homes of low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners for Make a Difference Day in Pasadena on Oct. 28. Information: (626) 798-6176.

* COPE (Community Outreach for Prevention & Education), a nonprofit health education provider focusing on at-risk youth in Venice, needs volunteers for its development committee to spearhead fund-raising. Information: (310) 314-1306.

* Los Angeles Superior Court needs juror docents to assist jurors during jury duty by answering questions about jury services and providing information about travel, parking, bus routes, restaurants, museums and other activities. Information: (213) 893-2240.

* Hollywood Senior Multipurpose Center needs volunteers to deliver meals in their own cars to the elderly in the Hollywood and Atwater Village areas on weekday mornings. Mileage reimbursement is available. Volunteers are also needed to help serve meals at the center. Information: (323) 957-3900.
