Dubois' 3 Scores Power Diablos

Robbie Dubois rushed for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Mission Viejo to a 39-21 victory over Capistrano Valley in a South Coast League football game Friday night.

Dubois, who came into the game as Orange County's second-leading rusher, has 1,333 yards on the season in seven games. He also boosted his touchdown total to 15 for the year.

Dubois, a junior, scored a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to put the game away for the Diablos (5-2, 2-0), who dominated from the beginning. His second touchdown, from a yard out with 3 minutes 28 seconds left in the first half, gave Mission Viejo a 32-0 lead.

The Diablos were most impressive in the first quarter, scoring on their first three possessions en route to a 19-0 lead. Mission Viejo opened the scoring with a 45-yard bomb from Billy Hart to Jason Hibbard with 6:58 left in the first quarter.

Less than a minute later, the Diablos struck again when Hart hit Josh Taylor for a six-yard score to make it 13-0.

Hibbard scooped up a Capistrano Valley fumble at the Mission Viejo 13 and went 87 yards for a 19-0 lead with 2:38 left in the first quarter. Mission Viejo piled up 254 yards in the first 12 minutes and went ahead, 25-0, six seconds into the second quarter on a five-yard run by Dubois.

Trailing, 32-0, Capistrano Valley (1-6, 0-2) finally broke through when David Frazeur hit Tristan Gowing for a 34-yard score on the final play of the third quarter. Bryan Peters added a pair of fourth-quarter scoring runs for the Cougars.
