All Day

Pop Music

Blood Drive 2000 is a pre-Halloween punk/roots/alternative extravaganza that's being touted as the first time three kingpins of Los Angeles, New York and British punk have shared the same stage. X, with its original lineup, New York's Misfits and England's the Damned headline a strong bill that also includes Supersuckers, Hellbound Hayride, the Bleeders, Zeke and the Amazing Crowns that takes place outdoors at Hidden Valley Ranch, which is adjacent to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and the Wild Rivers water park in Irvine. Oh, and that concert title? Not that the various bands haven't proved themselves more than capable of sweating blood, but in this case it just means proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross.

* Blood Drive 2000, Hidden Valley Ranch, 8800 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine. Noon-9 p.m. $40, $5 for kids 10 and younger at the gate. (949) 496-8930.

Masquerade Ball

More than 500 revelers are bound to boogie to the retro music of Costa Mesa band Super Cheez, stroll the museum's galleries and dine on Italian fare at the Masquerade Ball for the Arts. Partygoers can have their fortunes told, create masks and enjoy performances by a John Travolta impersonator from those "Saturday Night Fever" days. The ball will also include a silent auction to benefit such arts organizations as Opera Pacific, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, the Orange County Museum of Art and South Coast Repertory.

* Masquerade Ball for the Arts, Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Pre-sale tickets $60. Groups of 10 or more, $50 each. $75 at the door. (714) 556-2122, Ext. 546 or visit the Web site,
