Vocalist to Perform at Simi Hills

* Simi Hills Christian Church will present Christian vocalist Nia in a free concert tonight at 7. The church is at 4307 Walnut St., Simi Valley. For more information, call 527-0123.

St. Paschal Holiday Crafts Fair

* St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks will host a holiday arts and crafts fair this weekend. There will also be baked goods and refreshments. Hours are today from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by the women's club.

First Presbyterian Sunday Service

* First Presbyterian Church of Oxnard will hold a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. Pastor James K. Bain Jr. will speak about "Sermon and Song," using the scriptures Ezekiel 47:1-12.

There will be Sunday school for youth during the service. Adult Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. Child care is available at all services. The church is at 850 Ivywood Drive. For more information, call 983-0204.

Mass Schedule at St. Anthony's

* St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oxnard will celebrate Mass at 5:15 p.m. today and have confessions from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday Mass will be celebrated at 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m. in English, and Spanish-language Mass will be held at noon and 1:30 p.m.

Also on Sunday, the parish school will hold its annual Harvest Festival outdoors from 10-4 p.m. Free.

Methodist Services in Moorpark

* Moorpark United Methodist Church holds its worship service each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. This week, Rev. Rick Uhls will preach on "Being A Disciple," using Matthew 28:16-20. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m. Child care is available. Junior church for children through second grade is offered during regular worship service.

Unity Center Church Service

* Rev. Irma Oestmann will deliver the message "A New World Vision" Sunday at Unity Center Church in Thousand Oaks. The 10 a.m. service will include music by guitarist Roger Kraft.

Children's church is held during the service and child care is available. Also on Sunday, a continuing adult discussion series will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Day of the Dead Celebration

* Librarian Sylvia Flores Johnson will lead a Day of the Dead celebration Sunday at Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The program will begin at 10 a.m. and will include the construction of a community altar.

Ventura Day of the Dead Services

Church to Honor CLU Theologian

* Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks will celebrate the installation of Dr. R. Guy Erwin on Sunday. Erwin has been appointed to the Gerhard and Olga J. Minister's Installation Celebrated

* St. Columba's Episcopal Church in Camarillo on Sunday will celebrate the installation of Rev. Gregory Larkin. Bishop Chester Talton will preside over the 4 p.m. service, followed by a reception in the parish hall.

Temple Aims to Teach Hebrew

* Temple Etz Chaim, 1080 Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, on Sunday will begin the five-installment series "Read Hebrew America," a nationwide campaign aimed at teaching Jewish adults to read Hebrew. Course work will include the Hebrew alphabet and basic reading skills. No background in the language is required. Other dates are Nov. 5, 12, 19 and Dec. 3. Church's Halloween Alternative

* Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village will host its second annual "Trunk or Treat" harvest festival Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The program is described as a "safe and fun" alternative to traditional Halloween activities. Children 2 to 12 and their parents are encouraged to wear "positive attitude" costumes and take part in pony rides, a moon bounce and treat gathering from the trunks of members' cars. Free.

Music and Worship at St. Matthew's
