Foothill, using a strong running game and a swarming defense, defeated Orange, 58-8, in a Century League game Friday at Tustin High.

Mike Liti got Foothill started in the first quarter with two six-yard touchdown runs. The second was set up when Scott Filbin blocked a punt. Don Poole connected on a 42-yard touchdown pass with Mike Brittingham at the end of the first quarter. Mark Golino's extra point gave the Knights (4-4, 3-0) a 21-0 lead.

Robert Garey, who scored on offense, defense and special teams, scored on a 26-yard fumble return to start the second quarter. After Golino's 49-yard field goal, and a third Liti touchdown run, the Knights had a commanding 38-0 halftime lead.

Garey scored his second touchdown, an eight-yard run, early in the second half. With Liti on the bench most of the second half, DeJuan Smith played running back. Smith broke five tackles on his way to a 41-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Orange (0-8, 0-3) finally managed a touchdown when Matt Hall scored from four yards out. Joe Perez followed with a conversion run to make it 51-8. Garey returned the kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
