CAMPAIGN 2000

Poll Watch

October 29, 2000

It's anybody's guess who will be Americas next president, but that doesn't stop pollsters. With just one full week left in the campaign, nearly all of the daily tracking polls suggest Republican George W. Bush has a slight nationwide edge over Democrat Al Gore. State polls, however, suggest that Bush may be trailing in electoral votes. Throw in the margins of error for all of these polls and none of these surveys can definitively say much.

Still, here is a sample of national polls released in the last week. Green Party candidate Ralph Nader typically draws 4% in these surveys, and Reform candidate Pat Buchanan's support is about 1%.
