Emergent Information's Chief Exec Resigns

September 01, 2000|Dow Jones

Emergent Information Technologies Inc.'s president and chief executive has resigned after less than four months on the job.

Michael Piraino, who became chief executive early in May, quit to pursue other interests, the Newport Beach company said Thursday. The company did not elaborate.

Steven Myers, chairman of the provider of information technology systems and services, will be interim president and chief executive, Emergent said.

Piraino's departure was announced after the close of U.S. markets. The stock, which has lost 60% of its value so far this year, closed at $2.44, up 6 cents a share, in Nasdaq trading.

Before being elevated to CEO, Piraino had been president and chief operating officer.
