OUTLOOK

The Trojans have good size but lack experience. If the offensive line comes together, running backs Myers and Wheeler might do some damage. Nichols is a talented athlete, a starter at quarterback and defensive back, but with only three starters returning on offense and four on defense, he needs help. Some could come from Conlin, an all-league tight end, and Sherwood, an all-league punter. Sherwood can reach the end zone on kickoffs, and he will be called on for field goals of 50 yards or more. University lost three games by a total of 12 points, including a 17-7 setback to Irvine.

SCHEDULE

Sept. 7 at Irvine; 14 vs. El Monte Arroyo at Irvine HS; 22 vs. Woodbridge at Irvine HS; 28 vs. Orange at Irvine HS.

Oct. 6 vs. Saddleback at Santa Ana Stadium; 14 vs. Laguna Beach at Irvine HS; 20 vs. Estancia at Orange Coast College; 27 vs. Northwood at Irvine HS.
