1999 Commanderie de Peyrassol Co^tes de Provence Rose "Cuvee Esperon d'Or," Provence.

September 06, 2000|S. IRENE VIRBILA

Come the dog days of summer, the wine that seems to suit the season is a crisp, chilled rose. This one from Commanderie de Peyrassol in Cotes de Provence--the hills of Provence--has a delicate nose of roses and raspberries. Pale coral in color and light in body, it has a finish that's all silk. Easy drinking as they come, it's a great wine for the beach or the barbecue. Enjoy it with cold salads and grilled chicken or fish.

About $13. Available at Larchmont Village Wine, Spirits and Cheese, 233 N. Larchmont Blvd., Los Angeles, (323) 856-8699 and Hi-Time Wine Cellars, 250 Ogle St., Costa Mesa, (949) 650-8463. If you can't find this wine, have your local wine store call the distributor, Rosenthal Wine Merchant, at (518) 398-1800.
