The City Council will consider forming a beach advisory committee.

The committee was listed as one of the city's "vital few" priorities in the budget process for the 2000-01 fiscal year.

As proposed, the committee would consist of seven members. One spot would be reserved for a member of the Planning Commission and another for a parks and recreation commissioner. The remaining five spots would be reserved for residents.

The formation of the new board was recommended by the beach ad hoc committee, a temporary city body formed in 1998 to revise city policy with regard to beaches.

Among the issues the new committee would tackle are a citywide urban-runoff master plan and sand replenishment efforts.
