Tiscali to Buy World Online

Italian Internet service provider Tiscali clinched a $5.1-billion all-stock deal to buy Dutch peer World Online. The combined company will be the second-largest ISP in Europe after Deutsche Telekom's T-Online, with 3.5 million active subscribers. The combination of networks will span 15 countries, with market-leading positions in Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
