Heller's Tip Preserves Pacifica's Victory

David Heller tipped a pass out of the end zone on fourth down with less than one minute remaining to seal a 17-14 victory for Pacifica over Ocean View Friday night at Westminster High.

After Pacifica's Jacob Clark connected with tight end Alfonzo Auelua for a six-yard touchdown with 3 minutes 43 seconds remaining to make it, 17-14, Ocean View quarterback Patrick Campbell attempted a game-winning pass on fourth and 11 from the Pacifica 31. Heller had his man well covered, and jumped in the air to cause the game-saving incompletion.

Campbell completed nine of 24 passes for 180 yards, with one interception for Ocean View. He connected with wide receiver Phillip Smith five times for 103 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, which gave the Seahawks (1-1) a 14-10 lead.

The Mariners (1-1) were led by running back Javon Smith, who finished with 121 yards rushing in 16 carries.

Teammate J.P. Lee added 28 yards in four carries, including a six-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to open the scoring for Pacifica.

Pacifica tried to keep Ocean View off balance by using two quarterbacks and running the ball with seven different players. Chris Wikle completed six of 12 passes for 68 yards and Clark connected on two of his three passes for 16 yards. Clark also led the team in receiving, catching five passes for 52 yards.

Derek Crocker kicked a 36-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter for Pacifica.

Ocean View running back Jason Rhoads rushed 13 times for 45 yards and scored on a 13-yard run on the first possession of the second half.

Bryton Stefnik caught three passes for 69 yards for the Seahawks.
