California Amplifier's Sales Jump 83% in Quarter

September 19, 2000

California Amplifier Inc. in Camarillo said sales for its second quarter ended Aug. 26 increased 83% to just over $34 million, compared with $18.5 million a year earlier.

Second quarter net income for fiscal year 2001 increased 149% to $2.2 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, up from $901,000 or 7 cents per diluted share for the second quarter of last year.

"The significant increase in sales for the second quarter compared to the prior year was generated by sales growth in each of the company's three business units," Chief Executive Fred Sturm said. "The most encouraging development was the better-than-anticipated shipments of two-way transceivers for the emerging fixed wireless markets."

Sturm said California Amplifier's focus for the remainder of this fiscal year will be on strengthening the company's position in the global fixed wireless market and increasing the company's satellite product gross margins.

California Amplifier designs microwave amplifiers, down converters, antennas and other products used in conjunction with satellite video and ground-based applications.
