COMMUNITY NEWS / COVERING ORANGE COUNTY'S 33 CITIES

Irvine

September 21, 2000|Deniene Husted, (714) 520-2508

The city is coming close to meeting its goal of bringing in more affordable homes, according to a report to be presented tonight to the Planning Commission.

A draft report of the 2000-05 Housing Element shows Irvine is 1% below its goal for establishing very-low and low-income units in the city, and is 5% above its target for moderate-income housing, which would cost about $285,000 for a family of four. Most of those moderate-income units are townhomes or rental properties.

Tonight's commission meeting begins at 6:30 in the council chamber at the Irvine Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza.
