Redondo Beach Redondo Union 42, Orange 19--Redondo Union did all of its scoring in the first half and it was more than enough in its nonleague victory over the visiting Panthers.

Redondo Union (3-0) came out firing from the start as junior running back Eddie Topps scored touchdowns on runs of 55 and 10 yards in the first quarter.

Topps led all runners with 11 carries for 102 yards.

Orange (0-3) came back with a couple of impressive offensive and defensive plays in the second half. Linebacker Matt Hall recovered a fumble by Redondo Union running back Thomas Brown on the Redondo Union 10-yard line.

Three plays later, sophomore running back Brent Williams scored on a five-yard run with 9:45 left in the third quarter, but Carlos Alazaga's PAT kick missed.

Orange scored its second touchdown after another SeaHawk turnover. Orange senior defensive lineman Mike Garza recovered a fumble by Matt Aikins inside the Redondo 40-yard line. Two plays later, senior quarterback Justin Trejo connected with junior wide receiver Matt Lund for a 37-yard pass for a touchdown. Alazaga's kick made the score 42-13 with 9:51 left in the game.

The combination of Trejo to Lund worked again as the two connected on a 40-yard score with 4:44 left.
