Paul Evenson scored four touchdowns Friday night as Troy beat Whittier La Serna, 35-0, at Whittier California High School.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound senior led the Warriors (2-1) with 88 yards rushing in 18 carries. He had ample support from Jordan McCarthy (67 yards, 11 carries) and Luis Cardenas (49 yards, five carries).

Troy outgained La Serna, 196 yards to 45, in building a 21-0 halftime lead. On their second possession, the Warriors went on an 89-yard, 13-play drive that consumed 6 minutes 9 seconds. Evenson capped the drive with a 16-yard touchdown run with 2:17 left in the first quarter. The point-after try failed.

A La Serna mistake led to Troy's second score. Lancer punter Daron Carson dropped the snap and was tackled on his own three-yard line.

Evenson ran it in on the next play, and McCarthy made it 14-0 with a two-point conversion run.

The Warriors increased their lead to 21-0 on Evenson's two-yard run 3:37 before halftime, capping a 14-play, 72-yard drive.

After La Serna (2-1) failed to move on its first series after halftime, Troy took only four plays to go 47 yards for a 28-0 lead. The score came on a 28-yard pass from Jordan Oliver to Ryan Welch with 9:09 left in the third quarter.

Evenson then finished the scoring in the third quarter on a five-yard run with 1:43 left.
