Valley 41, Santa Barbara 24--Marques Brown intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, and the Monarchs (1-2, 1-1) forced six turnovers in a WSC Northern Division victory at Santa Barbara.

Quarterbacks Justin Bryan and Ian Richardson of Santa Barbara combined to throw for 360 yards, but had five passes intercepted.

Roderick Thomas rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns in 18 carries for Valley, which finished with 449 yards, including 272 on the ground.

Tim Starks of Valley scored two touchdowns, finishing with 76 yards in 21 carries, and Julian Battle caught seven passes for 113 yards.

After Jeremy Harvey of Santa Barbara (0-3, 0-2) kicked a 41-yard field goal to tie the score, 17-17, Valley scored 21 points during an eight-minute stretch in the third quarter.

Starks scored on runs of one and four yards, and Brown returned an interception for 22 yards for a score.

Juan Ozuna kicked a 27-yard field goal to give the Monarchs a 41-17 lead with 12:55 left.
