COMMUNITY NEWS / COVERING ORANGE COUNTY'S 33 CITIES

Laguna Hills

The City Council has approved a policy for the sale and management of city-owned property after several requests from residents to buy land adjacent to their homes or businesses this year.

In January, the council agreed that there may be circumstances that would make it beneficial to dispose of property that was no longer needed for public use. City staff devised a policy and an application procedure covering a variety of land types that the city owns or operates. The new procedure for residents who want to purchase land would cost an estimated $5,000 and be at the expense of the applicant, said Ken Rosenfield, director of public works. He said it was anticipated that there would only be one request per year. Information: (949) 707-2600.
