Colin MacNeil, Canyon High's senior middle linebacker, continues to enhance his reputation as one of the region's best.

He had 17 tackles, including six for losses, and returned an interception 54 yards in the Cowboys' 17-7 win over Quartz Hill.

MacNeil is receiving strong interest from Harvard. He wants to be a premed major.

It's never easy for seniors to adjust to a new coach. But part of Chaminade's early success under first-year Coach Bill Culpepper has been the ability of 19 seniors to lead the way for the young players.

In particular, the seniors on defense have played important roles.

Defensive back Pat O'Connor has three interceptions. Linebacker Russell Kovner and defensive end Kevin McGlynn also have been major contributors for the Eagles (2-1).
