The host Wolverines held on for their first victory despite being penalized 16 times for 150 yards. Aliso Niguel's offense was responsible for 13 of the infractions, including clipping calls that brought back touchdown runs of 58 and 70 yards.

The Wolverines (1-4) were deep in Trabuco Hills territory three times in the first half, but had to settle for field goals by Steven Berneking from 25, 32 and 36 yards to take a 9-0 lead.

Aliso Niguel went up 16-0 when Alex Meade ran 47 yards for a touchdown after Trabuco Hills (2-2) began the second half by turning the ball over. Meade led the Wolverines with 100 yards in six carries.

Trabuco Hills, which had only three first downs in the first half, finally got moving in the fourth quarter thanks to tailback Daniel Tellez's 162 yards in 26 carries.

With 5 minutes 18 seconds left, Tellez caught a 16-yard pass from Brian White for a touchdown on a fourth-and-14 play.
