UCLA SCOUTING REPORT: Arizona State (3-0) at No. 15 UCLA (3-1)

GAME DAY

September 30, 2000|Associated Press

Three years ago, UCLA lost its Pac-10 opener at Washington State before winning its final seven conference games. However, Washington State also finished 7-1 and won the conference title because of its victory over the Bruins.

"We've got to play them one at a time and not worry about the long haul," UCLA Coach Bob Toledo said.

Arizona State has victories over San Diego State and Colorado State in addition to Utah State.

"We may be biting off too much in terms of this conference opener," Sun Devil Coach Bill Snyder said. "I'm anxious to play, I think our team is too. We've gained some confidence. I'm not real sure the matchup [with UCLA] looks all that inviting."
