You couldn't have a nicer light lunch than a tomato tart with an organic mixed green salad as made at A la Tarte in Pacific Palisades. This French bistro-bakeshop calls the tart feuillete de Provence. The puff pastry base is topped with sliced tomatoes and Kalamata olives seasoned with basil, herbes de Provence, fleur de sel and white pepper. There's basil oil to sprinkle over the top and a thick French vinaigrette to go with the salad. A la Tarte will pack all this to go, and you might as well add one of the glorious pastries made by owner-chef Bonnie Yellen. Try the feuillete de poire, puff pastry formed into a long, graceful form that encloses sliced pears on an almond cream base.
