CAMARILLO — A young woman was killed and her husband and another man injured when their car flipped several times Saturday afternoon near Camarillo Airport, authorities said.
The 1986 Nissan Stanza was traveling east on 5th Street about 5:15 p.m. when the driver lost control just east of Pleasant Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses said the car swerved to the shoulder, flipped several times and came to rest upside-down in a ditch. The woman was found crushed in a passenger seat, said Ventura County Fire Capt. Tom Roberts.
The two men were outside the car when rescue personnel arrived, , Roberts said. It was unclear which man was driving.
One man suffered a broken arm and the other sustained several cuts on his legs and face, Roberts said. Both men were being treated late Saturday at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
The victims' names were not released. All three were described as in their 20s or 30s.
The crash closed one mile of 5th Street for more than four hours.
The cause was under investigation.
