Fossatti struck out 12 in a one-hit, 1-0 victory over Newhall Hart Saturday in the Foothill tourna-




No. 8 in the state to Foothill's No. 2,

managed only two runners,

and one of those was thrown out trying to steal. She faced one batter over the minimum as Foothill ended Hart's 10-game winning streak. On Thursday, she pitched a perfect game, striking out 10 in an 8-0 victory over Santa Ana Valley.

She had the best discus mark by a county girl since 1989, finishing third in the Arcadia Invitational with a throw of 150-9.

Capistrano Valley, Diving

Won the title at the Mission Viejo Invitational, scoring a county-best 579.30 points to defeat Allison Brennan of Edison.

Chris Malec

Santa Margarita, Baseball

In last week's Villa Park Invitational, Malec had seven hits in 14 at-bats for Santa Margarita, raising his season average to

.452. Four of the

seven hits were home runs, including

one in the Eagles' 4-1 victory

over San

Diego El Capitan on Wednesday that gave them a third-place finish in the tournament. Malec has eight home runs, making him the Orange County leader. The senior shortstop also had five RBIs during the tournament.

St. Michael's, Baseball

He struck out 21 and allowed only one hit in nine innings, earning a 4-2 victory over Liberty Christian.

La Quinta, Baseball

He pitched a perfect game, striking out 13 in a 6-0 victory over Pasadena Muir in the Pomona Elks tournament.
