Ventura County Perspective

Double Daylight Saving Time

April 22, 2001

Re "Doubling Up on Daylight Saving Is a Bright Idea," Ventura County Life column, April 1.

Why do the folks in the 24th Congressional District keep electing Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) as their representative? He is not a very good idea man. Most of what he comes up with is right from the liberal playbook and not the product of any reasonable thought process.

A case in point is his idea for "double daylight saving time" to help cut down on energy use.

If we set our clocks so that it does not get dark until 9:30 or 10 p.m., so that people do not need to turn on their lights, guess what they will leave on until that time? Their air conditioners! And we all know that air conditioners use more energy than lights.

Get Sherman out and elect someone with solid ideas for our area.
