Allergan Chief Pyott Assumes Chairmanship

Allergan Inc.'s president and chief executive, David E.I. Pyott, has been named to the additional position of chairman, the Irvine company said Wednesday.

Dr. Herbert Boyer, who had been chairman, remains on the board of the company, a maker of drugs for eye and skin care. He also becomes vice chairman, a new position.

Pyott has been chief executive since January 1998.

The stock edged up 10 cents a share to $74.35 on the New York Stock Exchange.
