MOSCOW — A bomb tore through a market in the Chechen city of Gudermes on Saturday, killing three people, including a 10-year-old boy, and wounding 11, military officials said.

The motive was not immediately clear, but the target probably was the nearby base of a Russian elite police force, officials said.

All of the victims were civilians, and among the wounded were eight women who had gone to the market to buy supplies, officials said, according to the Interfax news agency.

In Ingushetia, a restive republic that borders the breakaway republic of Chechnya, a powerful blast early Saturday seriously damaged the offices of the regional energy supplier, officials said.
