Forward Adam Allegro of Agoura expects to play Wednesday in a Marmonte League game against Newbury Park after missing Friday's game against Royal because of an injured left ankle.

The 6-5 Allegro, who is averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds, had a sore ankle before a Jan. 24 game at Thousand Oaks. But he played in that game and against Moorpark last Wednesday before sitting out Friday.

"I just overdid it," he said.

Tyler Ebell, Jimmy Ikeda and Kevin Johnson of Ventura are expected to play in the Cougars' Channel League finale against visiting Santa Barbara tonight after missing a 60-50 loss at Dos Pueblos on Friday because they were late for the team bus.

Coach Dan Larson said Ebell, Ikeda and Johnson missed the bus, which departed at 4:15 p.m., because they got caught in traffic on the way to school after participating in the annual senior ditch day.

Basketball--Tyler Ebell, Jimmy Ikeda and Kevin Johnson of Ventura High missed the team bus for Friday's basketball game at Dos Pueblos because they were caught in traffic while driving to school from Newbury Park, where they cared for dogs owned by Ebell's boss.

"It was scary," Larson said. "Those are all pretty reliable kids, so I was concerned something might have happened to them."

Buena (15-9, 4-2) can clinch a share of its first Channel League title since 1992 with a victory over visiting Dos Pueblos (14-6, 4-2) in a first-place showdown tonight.
