Lancaster High used a 21-7 run in the last three minutes for its first playoff victory in school history, beating Buena, 83-65, in a Division I-A first-round game at Lancaster on Friday night.

Buena (16-12) pulled to within 62-58 with 3:15 to play on Chris Jacobsen's two free throws.

However, the Eagles forced five turnovers to pull away.

Lancaster, which fielded its first team in 1996, also reached 20 victories for the first time. The Eagles (20-6) play Anaheim Canyon on Tuesday night.

"We are a fourth-quarter team," said Coach Travis Brown of Lancaster. "That is something we have done all year. For us to get our first Golden League championship, our first playoff win and 20 wins for the first time makes this a great year."

Michael Wright scored 21 points and Teddy Myers had 16 points and seven assists for the Eagles. Michael Webb scored 11 and Anthony Gamboa added 10.

Matt Colton of Buena had 16 points and 18 rebounds. Roosevelt Bolden and Jacobsen each added 14 points.

Myers made three three-pointers and scored 11 points in the second quarter to help the Eagles build a 37-33 halftime lead.
