Violence Continues on Kosovo Border

January 29, 2001|From Times Wire Reports

Four Yugoslav army soldiers were injured in new fighting between government troops and ethnic Albanian guerrillas in a tense part of southern Serbia near the province of Kosovo.

The fighting came after Yugoslavia's foreign minister called for an "urgent meeting" of the U.N. Security Council to deal with the escalation of violence in southern Serbia, where an army soldier was mortally wounded Friday.
