Water Pistols Must Stay Dry This Holiday

The city's traditional water fights, where people soaked each other with squirt guns, water balloons and super soakers in a downtown free-for-all, were banned by voters last year in a referendum.

The issue pitted those who thought the event was innocent, small-town fun against business owners and city officials who worried that the fights were taking on an increasingly aggressive tone.
