In Brief

** 1/2 Jimmy Eat World, "Bleed American," DreamWorks.

Those graduating from teen tastes could well turn to this album (in stores Tuesday) as a first step to adulthood. In the title track particularly, the Arizona band offers melodic rock with a more mature, broader view of life than that of Blink-182--if without the incisive wit and winks, still with a cutting rock edge. And there's enough pop craft and harmonies in several gentler songs not to scare off those just leaving 'N Sync behind.
