Wes Felix of Valencia High, who finished second in the boys' 100 meters and third in the 200 in the Southern Division I championships, has signed with USC.

Felix committed to UCLA in May, but changed his mind after USC improved its original scholarship offer.

Felix has career bests of 10.63 in the 100 and a hand-timed 21.1 in the 200.

Baseball

Junior pitcher Joe Guntz of Chatsworth High has been selected player of the year in the West Valley League.

A tryout camp for players 16-25 will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Pierce College by the major league scouting bureau.

Players must bring their own equipment.

Softball

Rachel Alcorn, a junior infielder from Simi Valley, received honorable mention on the All-Louisiana college softball team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Assn.

Alcorn batted .298 with four home runs and 28 runs batted in.

Diving

Sign-ups are being taken for the Dive Thousand Oaks boys' and girls' teams for anyone 6-17.

No experience is necessary. Instruction in springboard diving fundamentals is provided and members participate in age-group competition.
