A fleeing robbery suspect was shot and wounded by police after a car chase that began in Culver City and ended in South-Central Los Angeles.
Shots were fired by officers during a foot pursuit near 43rd Street and Normandie Avenue, police said. Police surrounded the area about 7:20 p.m. to search for the suspect, said Officer Don Cox, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
The suspect was taken into custody about 8:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Brighton Avenue, Cox said. He was taken to a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, said Officer Maria Marquez of the LAPD's 77th Division.
His condition was not available late Sunday night, Marquez said.
Culver City police would not release information about the robbery that led to the chase.
