** Jamie O'Neal, "Shiver," Mercury Nashville.

March 10, 2001|RANDY LEWIS

The Twain and Hill meet in O'Neal, whose voice falls squarely between those of country's two female powerhouses. The best things about this debut is the sultry, minor-key hit "There Is No Arizona," which she wrote, and "No More Protecting My Heart," with its bouncy pop-soul vibe. The rest is about as smooth and featureless as mainstream country gets.
